VIN# Verified – The Importance of VIN Matching when choosing the right part!
VIN # Verified
When it comes to purchasing auto parts—new or used—one of the most important things you can do is verify your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)! Here at Chuck’s Auto Parts Solutions, we take VIN verification seriously to ensure you get the right part, the first time. If you aren’t aware, your VIN is a unique 17-character code that provides crucial information about your vehicle, including its make, model, sub-model, year, and other specific features. Without verifying the VIN, you run the risk of ordering a part that doesn’t fit—costing you time and money!
Here at Chuck’s Auto Parts Solutions, our policy is to verify the VIN number for each and every part ordered. This ensures the part is the correct fitment for your vehicle. Each vehicle in our inventory has a VIN tied to every part removed from that vehicle, giving you confidence that what you are getting is truly the part you need! Our team of Parts Specialists are all available by text or call!
In a rush?
- You can take a quick photo of the VIN or vehicle’s liscence plate and text your salesperson directly for quick and easy VIN verification! Feel free to call or text your sales representative to make your ordering process that much simpler!
It is crucial for parts suppliers, like ourselves, to utilize VIN decoding in order to identify any existing part recalls. As we begin to Inventory each new vehicle, one of the first steps is to decode the VIN. At Chuck’s, we use a program which immediately notifies the technician of any recalls on parts like Airbags, Seatbelts, and others that may exist. This way any recalled parts are removed from Inventory listings, before ever being available for sale.
When ordering parts, always have your VIN ready! This simple step can make all the difference in ensuring you receive the right component. Our team is here to help verify and match your VIN so you can order with confidence. Our VIN matching software also has a neat feature allowing a 6/7 digit license plate number to decode the VIN#! Each vehicle’s plate number is the one and only of its kind, making it another great way to quickly verify the correct part for your ride! **Vehicles with dealer plates are not compatible with our VIN decoding software. **
Save time, assure accuracy, and get back on the road faster! VIN verification is key—and at Chuck’s Auto Parts Solutions, we make it easy!
What Information is Coded within a VIN?
Each manufacturer’s VIN is structured into sections that provide detailed information about a vehicle. The first section includes the First 3 Characters containing the World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI). This identifies both the vehicle’s manufacturer, and country of origin.
Examples:
1FA….. = Ford (USA), JHM….. = Honda (Japan)
The following digits, characters 4-9 contain the Vehicle Descriptor Section (VDS). The Vehicle Descriptor Section contains information about the vehicle model, body style, engine type, transmission, and safety features. The information contained in the VDS section is crucial when determining the variation of parts between different trim levels.
Example: A “G” in the 5th position may indicate a specific trim level or drivetrain.
The final 7 digits make up the Vehicle Identifier Section (VIS), consisting of characters 10 to 17. The most commonly requested digit would be the 10th Digit which translates to the Model Year. The simple way to check the vehicle year is to find the 10th digit and refer to the decoder below. Our complementary Chuck’s Auto Parts Solutions MousePads conveniently include the VIN year decoder for quick and easy use while searching for parts! VIN #s also use the 11th digit to specifically identify the assembly plant where the vehicle was Assembled. The final 12th-17th Digits can be utilized differently by manufacturers as specific Serial Number for their tracking purposes.
Why is the VIN Useful for a Customer?
The VIN match is important to ensure not only do you get the right part, but an exact match to your specific vehicle, sub-model, trim level, color, and/or paint code! The VIN # contains more information that is useful for the customer, such as vehicle history! Most incidents, maintenance, and accident history are tied to the vehicle’s VIN, like a Social Security # for your car! All history can be tracked through the lifetime of the vehicle to discover insights related to the part’s history.
When ordering parts, always provide the full 17-digit VIN for the most accurate match!
