Celebrating a Decade of Growth in York!

Celebrating a decade of Growth and Success at our York Facility!

Originally a Service Center and long term storage lot, the York site was adapted and altered for our needs, before we outgrew the existing facilities!

Watch an aerial timelapse of the York site’s growth over the last 10 years!

In December of 2015, Chuck’s proudly purchased our York, Pennsylvania location with a clear vision: expand the territory we could service while dramatically increasing the inventory and production capacity needed to meet growing demand. What began as a strategic expansion quickly became a cornerstone of our operation. Join us as we are celebrating a decade of Growth and Success at our York Facility!

What originally started as a facility with just four employees — one dismantler, one salesperson, and a big vision —has grown into one of the most talked-about automotive recycling facilities in the country. Over the last decade, the York site has undergone multiple expansion projects and operational upgrades, shaping it into the powerhouse it is today.

Building the Foundation (2016–2019)

Matt highlights some of the origins of the York site, 10 years ago

Matt Cramer takes us through the very beginning operations in York!

In early 2016, the York team hit the ground running. Outdated equipment was removed, a wash bay was built, the first parts racks were installed, and two rear garage doors were added to establish the facility’s first dismantling bay. Operations officially began in January 2016 with roughly 15 vehicles processed in the first month by a single dismantler.

As demand steadily increased and early growing pains were addressed, a second dismantling bay became operational, followed shortly by a third. For nearly five years, the York facility operated with three dismantling bays, eventually processing up to 75 vehicles per month — a significant milestone in the site’s growth.

During this time, inventory expanded steadily. Additional racking was added year after year until the available space inside the building was fully utilized, marking the next major challenge: logistics and throughput.

Matt Cramer shows us around one of the first major upgrades to our York facility, a 2,000sq/ft Quality Control and Dispatch center.

Scaling for Demand (2020–2023)

By 2020, Chuck’s York location had developed a strong and loyal customer base throughout Maryland and Central Pennsylvania. As delivery routes increased, the limitations of the original layout became clear.

That same year, construction began on a 2,000+ sq/ft Quality Control and Order Fulfillment expansion. This project added seven delivery truck bays, a dedicated quality control area, and workspace for dispatch and order fulfillment. Once completed, the transformation was immediate. Parts now traveled an efficient path — from the wash bay directly into quality control for inspection, packaging, and final processing — reducing handling time and improving accuracy.

Shortly thereafter, the York site installed its fourth dismantling bay, fully utilizing the remaining available space. The facility operated with four dismantling bays for approximately three years, continuing to increase output and efficiency.

A New Era of Production (2024–Present)

York originally started with just one dismantling bay, before we progressively adding bays, one by one until we reached capacity at 4!

York’s dismantling department started small with just one dismantling bay, and has since grown into a department of 7 active dismantlers!

In 2024, Chuck’s broke ground on a massive 4,000 sq/ft production expansion, designed to house two new inventory bays and space for up to eight dismantling bays. Following completion, the York facility ramped up to seven active dismantlers, now processing an average of 200 vehicles per month — a dramatic increase from its early days.

Later that year, the most recent expansion project began: a 4,000 sq/ft drivetrain containment warehouse, seamlessly connecting the new production center to the original facility. This addition not only doubled drivetrain inventory capacity, but also completed a continuous, single-level foundation throughout the entire operation.

This design allows parts to move efficiently from the farthest dismantling bay, through the drivetrain warehouse, into the parts wash bay, through quality control, and directly out the front door for customer pickup or delivery — all without unnecessary equipment transfers or elevation changes. The result is a safer, faster, and more streamlined operation.

Looking Ahead

Today, the York facility stands as a testament to strategic investment, teamwork, and continuous improvement. By expanding production capacity, improving workflow efficiency, and increasing inventory availability, Chuck’s has built a facility designed to better serve our customers — faster, safer, and more reliable than ever before.

As we are celebrating a decade of Growth and Success at our York Facility, we remain committed to evolving alongside the automotive repair industry and delivering the quality OEM parts our customers rely on every day.
