For 54 years, Chuck’s Auto Parts Solutions has been a dedicated, family owned and operated Automotive Recycler. The Business has invested and built a trusted, safe, and environmentally friendly process for dismantling end of life vehicles to sell the remaining quality used auto parts, along with our other new and remanufactured product. Every year, around Earth Day, we celebrate our year-round environmental efforts, by offering our local community a chance to join in the Automotive Recycling! 

On April 25th, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Chuck’s Auto Parts Solutions is hosting our 17th annual Earth Day Collection Event! We annually host the event to invite the local community to drive a greener community by properly disposing of automotive fluids and waste. 

Last Year’s Impact – 2025

Thanks to our incredible community, we collected:

• 37 used automotive batteries 

• Approximately 375 gallons of used oil 

• Around 100 gallons of coolant 

• Nearly 300 tires 

This annual event is open to the public and provides residents with a safe and environmentally responsible way to dispose of select automotive materials that should not be placed in household trash or recycling bins. Proper disposal of automotive fluids and components helps prevent environmental contamination and protects local land and waterways. 

Why Proper Disposal Matters 

Automotive fluids, especially antifreeze, pose serious risks if improperly discarded. 

Many antifreeze solutions contain ethylene glycol, a toxic substance harmful to both humans and animals. When dumped incorrectly, these fluids can contaminate storm drains, groundwater, and local waterways.

Proper disposal helps protect:

• Our environment 

• Local wildlife 

• Our community’s water supply

Items and fluids collected are properly stored and disposed of by Chuck’s Auto Parts Solutions. We utilize used oil for heating our facilities, and any remaining oils are responsibly refined and processed by Hazelton Oil & Environmental. Chuck’s also ensures antifreeze is held in large sealed storage containers before being responsibly processed.  

We asked Doug Reinert, President of Chucks Auto Parts Solutions, what motivated and started our Earth Day event and how it became a community event. This is what Doug had to say:  

 ” Our Earth Day journey began in 2009, rooted in a simple desire to show our community that we’re more than a “junkyard”—we’re caretakers of the environment. Through our work with the Automotive Recyclers Association, we saw how important it was to shift the perception of our industry and highlight the value of recycled parts—not just to save money, but to protect our planet. That first Earth Day, we were small. We set up right outside the sales office, and our employees brought their kids—it felt more like a family gathering than an event. The kids were thrilled to skip school and help sort oil, batteries, and tires. Since then, it’s grown into something truly special. Every year, over 100 households come out to do their part, and even when we don’tadvertise, people call to ask if it’s happening. Holding it on Saturdays now makes it easier for families to join us. What started as a modest act of environmental care has become a traditionwe’re proud of—because it brings people together, teaches responsibility, and reminds us that we all have a role in protecting the world we’ll leave behind. ”

Environmental Stewards for 17 Years 

What began as a small initiative has grown into one of our most meaningful community outreach events. Each year, more local families join us in making a difference—and together, we continue to raise awareness about the importance of automotive recycling and proper disposal of automotive fluids!
